Reflexology

Reflexology is a method of bringing about relaxation,
balance and healing through the stimulation of specific
points on the feet or hands.

In the feet there are reflex areas corresponding to
all the parts of the body and these areas are arranged
in such a way as to form a map of the body in the feet,
with the right foot corresponding to the right side
of the body and the left foot corresponding to the
left side of the body.

As a result every part of the body is connected by
energy pathways which end in these reflex areas.
The whole body is represented in the feet.

Reflexology has been used for several thousands of years by the early Indian, Chinese and Egyptian peoples. It was introduced as a therapy to the West in the 1890's by Dr William Fitzgerald, an American ear, nose and throat surgeon. In the 1930's it was refined and developed by American therapist Eunice Ingham. The main pioneer of Reflexology in Great Britain was the late Doreen Bayly who introduced the method in the early 1960's, and whose work forms the basis of Reflexology as it is known today.
